What a wonderful night was had by all at the fourth annual MDBA Business Excellence Awards – and what a pleasant surprise to see an ‘out of town’ business take the judge’s award this year – going to Jamieson General Store and Fudge Company!
Well done Leanne and Wayne – high praises from the judges.
And congratulations to all of our winners and to the employees who were honoured by their bosses – it is always pleasing to see trusted employees given a pat on the back for their good work and dedication.
I would encourage more of our businesses to enter these awards next year as it not only gives you additional publicity about how good you are but allows you to evaluate your progress – what’s good and what can be improved. It is not about who can write the best submissions but outlining what you offer the public as much as anything.
Our judges this year were quite surprised at the variety of businesses we have in this district – some they had never visited before but were pleased with all entries.
Our judges were both former businessmen – running their own small businesses which grew and grew – so they knew what they were about.
And a big thank you again to the Coffee Merchant who hosted the night – what a fabulous meal and atmosphere – well done Matt, Gareth and the team.
In 2016 the Delatite Hotel has been earmarked for our awards night – looking forward to it Dean and the crew.
The annual awards can only grow bigger and better if everyone has a go – even if you don’t win a trophy there is still a lot to be gained from trying. I am sure that Leanne and Wayne didn’t expect to win but because of the great customer service they give – it got them huge acknowledgements.
If you know of a business that is perhaps in its infancy, or growing and is well worth being acknowledged then have a chat or let the committee know so we can have a chat to them.
